The basic function of this position is to provide metal analysis skills to the SimuLab Minerals Metal Section. The incumbent is responsible for the analysis of routine client samples according to the requirement of the SimuLab quality system. Assist the Metals Group Section Leader for evaluation of customer quality control results prior to reporting. The incumbent is expected to assist in “basic” training of metal group personnel. Educational Requirements (Include certificates, licences and/or registrations required.) 1. Formal qualification in chemistry, e.g. Chemistry Certificate from TAFE. Experience Requirements 1. At least 5 years professional experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Basic Statistics. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: (Work environment characteristics described including hazards that may be encountered while performing the essential functions of the job.) Exposure to RF power from inductively coupled plasma spectrometers. Exposure to acids including HF and other corrosive substances. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Physical demands detailed here are representative of those that must be met for an employee to successfully perform essential functions.) Employees within this area are expected to lift sample digest racks and change gas cylinders for various spectrometers. Trolleys are available to assist with cylinder handling.
