WEG Investor Relations will use Twitter.com
WEG searches for more dynamic ways to approach investor relations
Jaraguá do Sul, March 24th, 2009 - WEG S.A. (Bovespa: WEGE3) announced today that it
will starting using use the Twitter microblogging platform more intensively, beginning at the first
quarter 2009 results disclosure. "We created the weg_ir profile on Twitter some time ago, but
were, up to now, still mostly listeners, learning the dynamics of the service and waiting until it
became more widely used in Brazil. We believe we can now increase our presence,” said
WEG’s Investor Relations Manager, Mr. Luis Fernando Oliveira.
Twitter (www.twitter.com) is formally a microblogging server where messages are limited to
140 characters. Typically users choose to follow and read the messages from those with
whom they have a common interest or identity, forming the so-called social networks.
According Oliveira, "there are as many Twitters as users, depending on who each user
chooses to follow.” The 140 characters limit requires that messages are always synthetic.
"The possibilities Twitter offers to communicate with investors are very interesting" said
Oliveira. "During the first quarter of 2009 conference calls that we will hold on April 28th, we
will be accepting questions from Twitter users, both in Portuguese and in English. This will be
the first experience and we will, over the coming months, find new forms of dialoguing with
our investors."
To "follow" the weg_ir profile one must be registered on twitter.com. Registration is free and
takes only minutes. Naturally, there is no link between WEG and the company responsible for
