WEG signs contract to supply wind turbines to the Santo Inácio
Wind Complex
Jaraguá do Sul, December 1, 2015 - WEG S.A. (Bovespa: WEGE3 / OTC: WEGZY)
has signed a contract with Aliança, to supply wind turbines, including operation and
maintenance services, for the Santo Inácio Wind Complex. Aliança is a Brazilian
company resulting from the partnership of Vale and Cemig to operate in the wind energy
market.
Located in Icapuí, in the State of Ceará, the Santo Inácio Wind Complex consists of four
generation farms totaling 98.7 MW in capacity, with the start-up of operations expected
for 2017.
According to Mr. João Paulo Silva, WEG’s Wind Power Managing Director "this supply
is an important step for WEG. We solidify the partnership with the Aliança and its
controlling shareholders, our customers in electric motors, transformers, and electric
panels”. Moreover, "unlike our other supplies in wind energy, Aliança will operate in the
electricity free market. Therefore, there is potential business outside the traditional
electricity auctions "explains Mr. Silva.
