2007 Bennett Lecture in Prevention Science Thomas Dishion, Ph.D. October 24, 2007 The Living Center, Henderson Building The Family Check Up: Intervention Model and Effects for Children and Adolescents Abstract The Family Check Up is a core component of an overall adaptive and tailored family-centered intervention for children and families (Dishion & Stormshak, 2007). An overview of the intervention model is provided, with some specific examples of applications in early childhood and adolescence. Intervention outcomes are provided for randomized trials testing the intervention for families of young children (age 2 to 4) and those with young adolescents (age 11 to 14). Implications for prevention science theory and method are discussed.
