Erik Kramer said he thought material covered in this course was too broad to effectively fit into the CRGE Area E category. Erik Kramer said that the Curriculum Committee can take two approaches to adding courses to Area E: (1) adding as many courses to this area as possible and figure out what this area should be and then remove courses; or (2) be more thoughtful in what courses that are added. 2. George Potamianos said that the study of history promotes empathy. It requires studetns to reflect on cultures other than their own. 3. Sean Herrera-Thomas said we should look at what the cutting edge schools are doing and what is being done in an exemplary way and then think what we can do locally. 4. George Potamianos said adding to the confusion here is a blurb explaining Area E does not exist. A statement of what Area E is in the process of being drafted. 4.9 HO-170A North Coast Paramedic 1 – Doug Boileau nd Michelle Haggerty [M], Sean Herrera-Thomas [2 ]. The course is open to all ages but at least 51% of the students in the class have to be older adults. 2. Elizabeth Carlyle said the minimum qualifications are different for instructors for older adults. The instructor would have to be trained to work with older adults. 3. Sean Herrera-Thomas asked if there was any discussion on setting up a program at CR similar to Osher at HSU. The noncredit department would like to and there has been some discussion. 4.12 GUID-220 Success Strategies in College – Elizabeth Carlyle nd Gary Sokolow [M], Sean Herrera-Thomas [2 ]. Discussion 5.1 George Potamianos has made updates and revisions to the Course Outline form. The major changes is being driven by the Academic Senate and to streamline the assessment of GE courses. With the new formatting of the GE outcomes the mapping of outcomes will be done in the curriculum documents and Curriculum Committee. 6.
