Call to Order: Acting Curriculum Committee Chair, Gary Sokolow, called the meeting to order at 1:07 p.m.

Introductions and Public Comment: Joanna Tindle will be the new Curriculum Support person starting November
1, 2015.

Approval of the Minutes: Harry Pyke moved to approve the minutes of the Oct. 9, 2015 meeting, seconded by
Sean Herrera-Thomas. There being no objections, the minutes were approved as written.

4.10 AJ-7 Current Issues in Criminal Justice – Gary Sokolow

Discussion:
1. Gary Sokolow added the course objectives to align the course with the C-ID descriptor. Juana Tabares
will submit this course for C-ID approval and alignment to C-ID AJ 160.
2. Gary Sokolow asked for clarification about the SAM Priority code. Rianne Connor explained the code is
used to indicated if the course is occupational and where it falls in the course sequence.

With the following revisions:
1. This course is being proposed for two CR General Education catagories (Social Science and Multicultural
Understanding). The issue/theme of the perception of the diverse populations and fairness of the system is
a theme throughout the course.

2. Sean Herrera-Thomas said the Academic Senate is working on finalizing the description of Area E. Erik
Kramer said that the language the senate is coming up with will help the committee when determining
what courses fit the Area E criteria.
4.11 Distance Education: AJ-7 – Gary Sokolow

1. This course is being proposed for the three delivery methods.
2. Currently the only AJ courses offered through distance education are hybrid courses. This course is
purely online. The AJ department is working towards offering all AJ courses at the Del Norte campus
through telepresence.
