RSU request for meeting with English, Social Studies, and Biology –
Currently Cameron offers our elementary education program on the Rogers
State University campus as a 2+2 degree with their associate’s degree. This program has doubled each year. Last year, Dean Elwell asked about running more Cameron programs on the RSU campus. Last April we were asked to consider three new areas: English Ed, Social Studies Ed, and Biology Ed. RSU grants large number of associate’s in each of these areas. That region of the state is growing. Northeastern has a presence in nearby Broken Arrow, and OSU is also in the area. But Cameron is actually on-campus. RSU wants to continue conversations with a visit to CU, possibly next month. They also want to see course syllabi. Ultimately, there would not be many changes to the professional education courses being taught there.
C.
Survey request from OCTP to residency committees – All resident teachers who are supervised through Cameron, along with their committee members, complete follow-up surveys designed by Cameron. We currently have a 100% return rate as the CU representatives distribute and collect the surveys during the final committee meeting. A legislator asked OCTP to conduct an independent survey, because there was a fear that candidates would not be as honest with a university-given survey. The survey looks a lot like Cameron’s. The intent of the OCTP survey is not to compare universities, and that survey will be given by email. This is just to let committee members know that they will be receiving the survey.
Last month’s meeting minutes were approved.

Dunn and seconded by Kurtis Koll. The motion was approved.

Request to Add a Course: MATH 3001 – This is also a new technology course, but at a higher level. A motion to accept the request was made by Russell Graves with a second by Kurtis Koll. The motion was approved.
3.
Request to Add a Course: MATH 3413 – This is a new course in discrete mathematics to take the place of the course being dropped by CS. Kurtis Koll moved to accept the request. Teresa Lubrano made a second, and the motion was approved.
4.
Request for Math Education Program Modification: Program
Requirement Change – CS is changing some courses that affect hidden prerequisites in the Math Ed program. The program changes will also address the NCATE-identified weakness of technology and will allow the program to continue to meet the NCTM standard of discrete math. Finally, the changes will allow students to be able to complete the program in 120 hours. Travis Childs made a motion to accept the program modification with a correction to the total number of hours for either the core or electives. The motion was seconded by Mike Dunn, and it was approved.

Applications to student teach and discussions about placements will be completed in the next few weeks.
