The university will host an appearance of the Victims’ Impact Panel to alert students to the dangers of drinking and driving. The event is being coordinated by the campus chapter of Students in Free Enterprise. “The Victims’ Impact Panel is one of several events we will host this academic year to place a focus on the dangers of alcohol abuse,” said Samantha Thomas, vice president for student services at Cameron. “This presentation is an emotional appeal to raise awareness among students.” The one-hour presentation begins at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, in the CU Sciences Complex’s Goodyear Lecture Hall. All college students are encouraged to attend. The Victims’ Impact Panel of Oklahoma is a non-profit organization that has worked for more than 15 years to reduce the epidemic of drinking and driving in the state. During the presentation, students experience the impact of drunk driving through the eyes of a victim, a rescue professional and an offender. Through these speakers, the audience can see firsthand the turmoil that alcohol abuse has created in their lives. – 30 – PR#04-264 Editors and Broadcasters: For details, contact CU Government & Community Relations at 580.581.2211.
