Cameron announces Top 10, Top 20 lists
For many students at Cameron University in Lawton, making either the Top 20 or Top 10 lists is one of the
highest honors they can attain during their college career. The university has announced both lists, along
with several faculty, staff and student honors, during recent end-of-semester activities.
The Top 20 is comprised of outstanding CU juniors and seniors, while the Top 10 is made up of
outstanding college students over the age of 25.
This year's Top 20 honorees are Chelsey King from Cache; Gifflene Charles and Norla Louisy of the
Commonwealth of Dominica; Christina Buben and Sherry McKinney from Duncan; Tahsin Ahmed,
Cynthia Casarez, Michelle Coady, Aaron Gilbee, Kay Morris, JoAnn Muller, Megan Smith and Theresa
Williams, all from Lawton; Jeffrey Milam of Sterling; Merita Tyrell of St. Kitts & Nevis; Danny Moonie and
Caron Remi of St. Lucia; Jeff Simpson of Walters; Nicholas Richardson of Waurika and Michelle Wanner
from Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Making Cameron’s Top 10 list are Edith Dabbs from Altus; Ernie Francis and Brian Toussaint of the
Commonwealth of Dominica; Nicholas Ajimine and Wendy Dunmeyer of Lawton; Matthew Benner from
Logansport, Ind.; Tamara Harris, Clinton Reynolds and Leonard Terrance, all from St. Lucia; and Wendy
Tunnessen from Randlett.
A committee of faculty, staff and students selects honorees for both lists based upon the nominees’ grade
point average, student activities, leadership and honors. Grades account for 40 percent of the total score,
while activities make up 60 percent.
Cameron assistant business professor Dr. Aubree Helvey was named Advisor of the Year, while political
science professor Dr. Phillip Simpson was named Professor of the Year. Jennifer Holland, Cameron's
director of student development, was named CU Staff Person of the Year.
Organization of the Year honors went to the campus chapter of the Student Oklahoma Education
Association. Runners up were the Chemistry Club and the CU Criminal Justice Association.
