For Immediate Release – Lawton, OK, April 5, 2007 Cameron students and faculty present papers at Southern States Communication Association Conference Bethany Beck and Lauren Barbour, both speech communication majors from Lawton presented their research at the Theodore Clevenger Undergraduate Honors Conference in Louisville, Ky. on March 29-30. The Honors Conference was held in conjunction with the Southern States Communication Association National Conference. Barbour’s paper was titled “Did Multatuli Express narrative Paradigm throughout Max Havelaar to Gain Change in Java.” Beck presented “The Second Life: Examination of Interpersonal Communication within Computer Meditated Communication Environments.” The students also received a reception and a special breakfast congratulating their work at the conference. In addition to the student work, Tyler Thornton, CU Director of Forensics, also attended the conference as the Vice Chair of the Southern Forensics Division. The division recognized Thornton as the Debate Coach of the Year. He also presented a paper on the increasing complexities of technology within college forensics and was a part of a panel discussion on the important relationship between high school and college forensics programs nationwide.
