For Immediate Release – Lawton, OK, March 17, 2004 CU historian to lecture at Duncan museum Dr. Sally Soelle, Dean of Cameron University’s School of Liberal Arts, will present a fun and informative lecture on the history of Southwest Oklahoma next week at the Stephens County Historical Museum in Duncan. The lecture, which begins at 6 p.m. on March 23, is part of the museum’s annual membership dinner. A Cameron alumna, Soelle also earned a doctorate in history from the University of Oklahoma. She has taught in the CU Department of History and Government since 1987, in such courses as the history of the American West, the history of medicine and museum studies. She is a member of the Oklahoma Historical Society’s board of directors, chairing the publications committee and serving on the preservation committee. Soelle has been deeply involved in the study of the history of the region, often with students. She has been engaged in research on the history of Medicine Park, the preservation of Lawton’s Central Junior High School, Cameron’s history and the restoration and preservation of New Deal murals in the state. The lecture is presented free of charge, however, reservations are requested for dinner.
