Morris named recipient of Nigh Scholarship
A Cameron University senior has been recognized for her interest in public service and potential as an
exceptional leader with her selection to the George and Donna Nigh Leadership Academy.
Kay Ann Morris of Lawton is Cameron’s 2004 recipient of the George and Donna Nigh Public Service
Scholarship and will represent the university at an upcoming leadership academy.
Each Oklahoma college or university can nominate one participant for the scholarship program, which was
established in 1999 by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education as authorized by the Legislature.
The scholarship program was named in honor of the former governor and his wife as a tribute to their
extensive involvement with public service and education.
As recipient of the honor, Morris will receive a $500 scholarship for the Spring 2004 semester and the
opportunity to attend a leadership academy in Oklahoma City Feb. 21-24.
Morris has been active in the Cameron University Student Government Association for the past two years
and is currently serving as student body president. She was also a participant in the Oklahoma version of
the National Education for Women's Leadership program.
Morris has served two terms as vice president of the American Chemical Society for Student Affiliates and
is a member of Chi Lambda Upsilon, Collegians for Environmental Awareness and the CU Programming
Activities Council.

She will earn a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Cameron in May, then plans to pursue a
doctorate in chemistry.
The George and Donna Nigh Public Service Scholarship was created to provide scholarship opportunities
for students who are preparing for careers in public service. It also provide a chance for those students to
attend a leadership academy with the governor, members of the Oklahoma Legislature and business
leaders from across the state.
Scholarships are awarded through the George and Donna Nigh Scholarship Fund and administered by the
George and Donna Nigh Public Service Institute.
Morris, a 2000 graduate of Lawton Eisenhower High School, is the daughter of John and Marjorie Morris.
