Interinstitutional Marine Science Program Academic Affairs makes PhD programs happen. GA has not made decisions. The UNC-system Board of Governors began a study to look for duplicate graduate and undergraduate programs to help the system cope with budget reductions. State-wide commission has been created to review Marine Science PhD programs. Student –Mentor Relationship The new MS Grad Student Association is energetic and active. They have volunteered at an oyster rebuild and are attending Departmental Seminars. MS Review Committee and IAC both talked about importance of the Student – Mentor relationship. Many students have commented that different funding is unfair and the newly created UNCW MS Marine Science Student-Mentor Philosophy document addresses all areas of this relationship . This document is going to be used at student orientation and become part of Graduate Student Handbook. Section 5 is important. This document has been sent to Graduate Student Committee to get their response. CMS Bus Schedule Will continue until the start of Spring Semester and we are beginning to see the use of this shuttle increase. We hope to see it continue.
