(Study Abroad Scholarship)
The US-UK Fulbright Commission offers special Summer Institutes for US citizens to study in the
UK. These summer programs provide the opportunity for US undergraduates to travel to the UK on a
three, four, five or six week academic and cultural summer program. (Eligibility: US citizen, 18 years
or older, 3.5 GPA, at least two years of undergraduate study left to complete)
Participants in these programs will experience an exciting academic program at a highly regarded UK
University, explore the culture, heritage and history of the UK and develop their academic ability by
improving presentation, research and communication skills.

There are nine Summer Programs (2015) available for US students:









AIFS Summer Institute at Shakespeare's Globe (Acting and Understanding Shakespearian Literature)
Durham University Summer Institute (Archaeology and Medieval Studies)
King's College London Summer Institute (Modern Britain and Children’s Literature)
Nottingham Trent University Summer Institute (Culture and Creativity in Space, Place and Time)
Queen's University Belfast Summer Institute (Irish Studies)
Scotland Summer Institute (Scottish Studies)
University of Bristol Summer Institute (Slavery and the Atlantic Heritage)
University of Exeter Summer Institute (Climate Change)
Wales Summer Institute (Welsh Studies)
The Summer Institutes will cover the majority of participant costs. This includes round-trip airfare
from the US to the UK, tuition and fees at the host university/institution, accommodation and meals
and in some cases a small daily allowance.
