NR 16-20843 Jan. 20, 2016 COD News Bureau Nearly 300 Apply for College of DuPage Presidency Nearly 300 people have applied to serve as the next president of College of DuPage, according to the COD Presidential Search Committee, which met Tuesday evening, Jan. 19. “We are delighted to have received such an extraordinary number of viable applications for this position. I am very pleased with our timely progress,” Search Committee Chairman Lee Daniels said, noting there are already 40 applicants under serious consideration. The committee met to review the backgrounds of the highly qualified candidates and approved an updated timetable going forward. Members believe research and advertising will generate further applications. The committee has received seven applications from candidates with presidential experience and anticipates receiving future recommendations of traditional academic candidates from its consultant Dr. Robert C. Dickeson, a national leader in higher education, who is working in conjunction with the search firm William E. Hay & Company. There are 16 area residents appointed by the COD Board of Trustees to serve on its Presidential Search Committee. Members include representatives of the business, legal, financial, government, and education communities in District 502. The committee will screen applicants and present a group of finalists to the COD Board of Trustees, which will make the final selection of the next president. “As a student, I am gratified to have a vote in this process,” said search committee member Miguel Hernandez, vice president, COD Student Leadership Council. “It is crucial that the student voice be heard in choosing the next leader of the College, and this committee ensures that it is.” Board of Trustees Acting Chairman Deanne Mazzochi thanked the committee for its continued work. “I so appreciate the time and commitment the committee has shown during this process,” Mazzochi said. “Our College is in need of new leadership, and the progress you have made is a major step in the right direction. The incredible response we have received from both traditional and non-traditional candidates shows the academic community knows COD is a great school, and our next chapter is one destined for excellence.” “The committee will entertain applications and nominations until the final selection is made, but will give preference to those received by January 31,” Daniels said.
