Monday
We greeted classmates, said the Pledge of Allegiance, our
class promise and did calendar. We did our ABC chart and
‘Action Alphabet’. We sang our ‘Days of the Week’ song and
‘Macarena Months’. Our kindergartner of the week shared
her poster and we wrote a sentence about her using shared
writing. We learned our new popcorn word, ‘can’ and did
rainbow writing of it. We read our poem of the week, ‘The
Nicest Part’. We heard our letter ‘h’ presentation, felt how it
sounds in our mouth and throat and practiced writing it in
the air, on our hand, on the carpet and on our white boards.
We learned that word parts are called syllables and we
drummed them as we read Tanka Tanka Skunk. The
morning class did shared reading and read Your Five
Senses and You See With Your Eyes and tried to determine
which sandpaper letter they had with their eyes closed.
They also read Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse by Kevin Henkes.
The afternoon class had library. We visited the first of five
math stations (1-20 puzzle; dominoes; magnetic numbers;
geometric shapes and wooden blocks.
Wednesday
We greeted friends, said the Pledge of Allegiance,
our class pledge and did calendar. We did our ABC
chart and ‘Action Alphabet’. We counted to 100 by
5’s and 10’s. Our kindergartner of the week brought
something for us to estimate and we wrote a
sentence about her using shared writing. We
stomped syllables. We did shared reading. We heard
our ‘t’ presentation, felt how it sounds in our mouth
and throat and practiced writing it in the air, on our
hand, on the carpet and on our white boards. We
made our one ‘t’ books. We did a baseline writing
assessment called ‘Hearing Sounds in Words’. We
read You Hear With Your Ears and used our sense of
hearing to guess what was in various shakers. We
learned a bit of sign language. We read Julius, the
Baby of the World. We had recess. We did our third
math station.
Tuesday
We greeted each other, said the Pledge of
Allegiance, our class promise and did
calendar. We counted to 100 by ones. We did
our ABC chart and ‘Action Alphabet’. We had
our pictures taken. Our kindergartner of the
week brought in something for science. We
wrote a sentence about our kindergartner of
the week and another sentence about her
science image using shared writing. We did
speedwriting of our popcorn word. We
clapped syllables and sorted pictures of three
and four syllable words. We did shared
reading and read You Smell With Your Nose.
We had recess. We visited our second math
station.
Thursday
We greeted one another, said the Pledge of
Allegiance, our class promise and did calendar.
We subitized ten frames to 5 and counted
backwards from 20. We did our ABC chart and
‘Action Alphabet’. Our kindergartner of the week
shared something for social studies and we wrote
our final sentence about her using shared writing.
We each wrote our own sentence about her. We
read, highlighted popcorn words in and illustrated
our poem. We heard our ‘i’ presentation felt how it
sounds in our mouth and throat. We made our ‘i’
books and practiced writing it in the air, on our
hand, on the carpet and on our white boards. We
had recess. We did shared reading and read You
Taste With Your Tongue. The morning class had
library. The afternoon class visited the fourth math
station.
Friday
We greeted each another, said The Pledge of Allegiance and our class pledge and did calendar. We counted
on from a mystery number. We did our ABC chart and ‘Action Alphabet’. We had Family Friday. We
highlighted our new popcorn word in and read I Can. We did shared reading, read You Can Touch With Your
Fingers and Me and My Senses and determined which senses were used for various items. We read Bailey
Goes Camping and The Biggest Boy by Kevin Henkes. We did syllable fitness and had recess. The morning
class did the fourth math station. The afternoon class had library.
