October 19th to 23rd, 2015

Monday
We greeted classmates, sang ‘God Bless America’, said our class promise and did calendar. We sang our ‘Days of the Week’ song and ‘Macarena Months’. We did our ABC chart and ‘Action Alphabet’. Our kindergartner of the week shared his/her poster and we wrote a sentence about him/her using shared writing and punctuation. We learned that smart thinkers collaborate. We learned our new popcorn word, ‘and’ and did rainbow writing of it. We read our poem of the week, ‘Pumpkins’. The afternoon class had library. We heard our ‘th’ presentation, felt how it sounds in our mouth and throat and made our ‘th’. We learned that sentences have punctuation (periods, question marks or ‘wow’ marks). We read We Are In a Book! and The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog both by Mo Willems, and both excellent examples of exclamation and question marks. We did shared reading and read a version of The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. The AM class played a popcorn word gam, graphed whether or not they’ve been to a farm and read What is Round? We had recess. We were introduced to 2-­‐D shapes including circle, square, triangle, rectangle and hexagon. We made shape pumpkins. Wednesday
We greeted friends, sang ‘God Bless America’, said our
class pledge and did calendar. We did our ABC chart and
‘Action Alphabet’. We counted to 100 by 5’s and 10’s. Our
kindergartner of the week brought something for us to
estimate and we wrote a sentence about his/her using
shared writing, using punctuation. We read Happy Pig Day!!
by Mo Willems. We sequenced the lines of our poem. We
heard our ‘y’ presentation, felt how it sounds in our mouth
and throat and practiced writing it in the air, on our hand,
on the carpet and on our white boards. We made our our
‘y’ books. We read Wolf and learned that to read fluently
we must practice, practice, practice. We tried out
different voices to practice reading our ‘Y’ books. We read
The Pigeon Wants a Puppy! by Mo Willems. We had recess.
We did shared reading and read The Three Little Pigs and
the Somewhat Bad Wolf. We had recess. We collaborated
with a partner to put pattern block shape puzzles
together.
Tuesday
We greeted each other, sang ‘God Bless America’, said our
class promise and did calendar. We counted to 100 by
ones. We did our ABC chart and ‘Action Alphabet’. Our
kindergartner of the week brought in something for
science. We wrote a sentence about him/her and another
sentence using our sense of sight with his/her science
image using shared writing and punctuation. We did
speedwriting of our popcorn word. We read ! and Should I
Share My Ice Cream? by Mo Willems and noticed all of
the punctuation in it. We heard our letter ‘w’
presentation, felt how it sounds in our mouth and throat,
made our ‘w’ books and practiced writing it in the air, on
our hand, on the carpet and on our white boards. We read
Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late! by Mo Willems. We did
shared reading and read another version of The Three
Little Pigs We had recess. We had Guidance.
Thursday
We greeted one another, sang ‘God Bless
America’, said our class promise and did calendar.
We subitized ten frames to 5 and counted
backwards from 20. We did our ABC chart and
‘Action Alphabet’. Our kindergartner of the week
shared something for social studies and we wrote
our final sentence about him/her using shared
writing. We each wrote our own sentence about
him/her. We read I Broke My Trunk! by Mo Willems.
We heard our ‘v’ presentation felt how it sounds in
our mouth and throat. We made our ‘v’ books. We
read The Duckling Gets a Cookie!? by Mo Willems.
We had recess. The AM class had library and read
Big Bad Wolf Is Good. We had recess. The AM
class did a chart indicating how many sides each
of five shapes have. The PM class watched
Clifford’s Fun with Shapes.
Friday
We greeted each another, sang ‘God Bless America’, said our class pledge and did calendar. We counted on from a
mystery numbers. We read our popcorn words, did our ABC chart and ‘Action Alphabet’. We had Family Friday. We
highlighted our new popcorn word in, read and did fitness to I Can Move! We read Listen to My Trumpet! And The Pigeon
Needs a Bath by Mo Willems. The PM class had library. The AM class watched Clifford’s Fun with Shapes and the PM
class had library and completed the chart of shapes and number of sides. We had recess. We read Hello, Brutus!, It’s
Fun to Be a Buckeye! and Buckeyes A to Z. We learned about buckeyes, received one and a scarlet and gray bracelet.
Brutus visited our class! The AM class attended the Penny Harvest assembly.
