Salary: The starting salary is between $45,990 and $75,884 per year, based on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. The pay schedule/range is 07-03. Due to the project nature of these positions, they are not represented by a bargaining unit.

The Department of Health Services (DHS); Division of Public Health (DPH); Bureau of
Community Health Promotion in Madison currently has a Physical Activity Program
Coordinator and a Communities Program Coordinator.
These are project positions funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act of 2009 (ARRA) for a maximum period of two (2) years. These are not permanent positions.
Job Duties: These project positions are responsible for the overall coordination and management of the Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW) Physical Activity
Program and the Communities Program. The Physical Activity Program Coordinator will develop a statewide initiative to create key policies that positively impact physical activity in schools and childcare settings. The Communities Program Coordinator will support local efforts at the two communities (La Crosse and Wood Counties) as they implement key policies and strategies that positively impact physical activity and nutrition. These positions provide direction and guidance, coordination, and liaison activities to collaborating organizations including private voluntary organizations, local health departments, and community-based organizations, and state and local service coordinating agencies; direct, evaluate and coordinate program activities with the
Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity (NPAO) Program and overall program and fiscal management. These positions are also responsible for frequent communication with staff/programs, particularly those involved in other America Recovery and
Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grants and also within the Bureau of Community Health
Promotion (BCHP) and other state agencies.
Special Notes: Wisconsin residency is required for these project positions, possession of a Wisconsin Driver
’ s License and the ability to travel and stay overnight.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of current scientific research-based concepts, theories, principles and practices of pubic health education and policy change; policy, systems, and environmental changes including the use of grassroots policy strategies; project and fiscal management; epidemiological, economic and social trends with implications for the health and nutritional status of the population and the ability to translate community assessment data into statewide programs plans for nutrition services; strategic and operational health planning, program implementation and evaluation. Skill in data management; local public health agency operations and structure; working as a liaison/facilitator or consultant with a variety of professionals internally and externally to the organization regarding policy or program issues; grant writing, and in justifying budget requests; presenting ideas and information orally and in writing in a clear, concise and persuasive manner. Ability to provide leadership and guide activities of individuals and groups; to communicate clearly and to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the agency and with other agencies and community groups.
Master's degree in public health, community development, or health and community policy preferred.
