The Committee discussed the Symbolic Systems proposal from Media Arts. It was unclear whether students would be required to take both the Music courses and the Computer

Computer Science. Camie will follow-up. Beth Howard was concerned about the timing of taking the courses because they are not accepted into the BFA program until their junior year.
After considerable discussion the committee voted 4 in favor and 3 against to approve LSH
389 Placebos, The Use of Words as an Ethics course. It voted 1 in favor and 4 against to approve CHMY 302 Chemistry Literature & Scientific Writing as an Ethics course.
The Committee discussed the draft statement of issues with integrating Global Leadership courses with General Education Criteria. It will be further refined via email communication for posting to the Faculty Senate agenda in conjunction with the update from the GLI
Taskforce.
The meeting adjourned at 5:20 p.m.
