Grading: Final grades will be based on your best two scores on three midterms scoring 35%, final 30%, and homework 35%. Midterms: There will be three in-class midterm exams on Wednesday September 21, Wednesday October 26 and Wednesday, November 16. Questions will be similar to homework problems. Final Exam: The final exam will be on Monday, December 12, from 6pm to 8pm. The final exam is comprehensive. Students must pass the final to pass the course. Homework: There will be homework problems each day. The problems and the due dates will be assigned on WebWork. Benny Bushing Mathematics 1 Center, located between LCB and JWB. The regular hours during fall semester is M-H 8:00am - 8:00pm, Fri 8:00am - 6:00pm. Withdrawals: Last day to drop a class is Aug.31. Until Oct.21 you can withdraw from the class with no approval at all. After that date you must petition your dean’s office to be allowed to withdraw. Additional Policies: (1) Permission to write a makeup midterm may be granted in the following circumstances: (a) prior notice of a valid, documented absence (e.g. out-oftown varsity athletic commitment) on the scheduled date; or (b) notification of the instructor within 24 hours of absence due to medical condition. Original written documentation, for example a doctor’s note or letter from a coach, is required; otherwise, a score of 0 will be given for the missed midterm. (2) You are allowed (and encouraged) to work together on homework, but copying someone else’s homework and turning it in as your own is considered cheating. Any form of cheating, on homework or exams, will not be tolerated. (3) Calculators will not be allowed in any exams.
