Prerequisites:
“C” or better in MATH 1220 or MATH 1250 or MATH 1270 or AP
Calculus BC score of at least 4.
Grading:
Final grades will be based on your best two scores on three midterms
scoring 35%, final 30%, and homework 35%.
Midterms:
There will be three in-class midterm exams on Monday Jun 4, Monday Jun 25 and Monday, July 16. Questions will be similar to
homework problems.
Final Exam:
The final exam will be on Thursday, August 2, from 12:30pm to
2:30pm. The final exam is comprehensive. Students must pass the
final to pass the course.
Homework: Homework will be assigned after each lecture and will
be collected each Wednesday. Late homework will be accepted but
the score will be discounted by 2−X where X is the number of days
from the due date. Please staple the homework submitted with your
name and uID on it.

Tutoring:
Free tutoring is available in the T. Benny Bushing Mathematics
Center, located between LCB and JWB. The regular hours during
summer semester is M-H 8:00am - 8:00pm, Fri 8:00am - 6:00pm.
Withdrawals:
Last day to drop a class is May 23. Until Jun.1 you can withdraw
from the class with no approval at all. After that date you must
petition your dean’s office to be allowed to withdraw.
Additional Policies:
(1) Permission to write a makeup midterm may be granted in the
following circumstances:
(a) prior notice of a valid, documented absence (e.g. out-oftown varsity athletic commitment) on the scheduled date;
or
(b) notification of the instructor within 24 hours of absence due
to medical condition. Original written documentation, for
example a doctor’s note or letter from a coach, is required;
otherwise, a score of 0 will be given for the missed midterm.
(2) You are allowed (and encouraged) to work together on homework, but copying someone else’s homework and turning it in
as your own is considered cheating. Any form of cheating, on
homework or exams, will not be tolerated.
(3) Calculators will not be allowed in any exams.
