Grading: Final grades will be based on your best two scores on three midterms scoring 40%, final 30%, and homework 30%. Midterms: There will be three in-class midterm exams on Wednesday June 9, Thursday July 1 and Tuesday July 20. Questions will be similar to homework problems. Final Exam: The final exam will be on Friday, August 6, from 7:30am to 9:30am. The final exam is comprehensive. Students must pass the final to pass the course. Homework: There will be homework problems each day. The problems and the due dates will be anounced in class. Benny Bushing Mathematics 1 Center, located between LCB and JWB. The regular hours during summer is M-H 8:00am - 8:00pm, Fri 8:00am - 6:00pm. Withdrawals: Last day to drop a class is May.26. Until Jun.25 you can withdraw from the class with no approval at all. After that date you must petition your dean’s office to be allowed to withdraw. Additional Policies: (1) Make sure your homework is organized, legible, and stapled. If the grader cannot read an assignment, it will receive a 0. (2) Permission to write a makeup midterm may be granted in the following circumstances: (a) prior notice of a valid, documented absence (e.g. out-oftown varsity athletic commitment) on the scheduled date; or (b) notification of the instructor within 24 hours of absence due to medical condition. Original written documentation, for example a doctor’s note or letter from a coach, is required; otherwise, a score of 0 will be given for the missed midterm. (3) You are allowed (and encouraged) to work together on homework, but copying someone else’s homework and turning it in as your own is considered cheating. Any form of cheating, on homework or exams, will not be tolerated. (4) Calculators will not be allowed in any exams.
