Position: Facilities Maintenance Specialist
Department: Central Wisconsin Environmental Station (CWES)
Classification: Facilities Maintenance Specialist (76101)
Pay Schedule-range: 03-12, minimum $15.32, based on qualifications and experience
Work Location: Sunset Lodge, 10186 County Road MM
Shift: 7:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday. A variable work schedule, including weekends and
flexibility on daily duties is required.

Position Description: The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is a primary service at the Central Wisconsin
Environmental Station (CWES). The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for general
facilities and maintenance. The successful candidate will provide excellent service and respond to
maintenance needs in an efficient and customer-friendly manner. The incumbent will play a critical role
within the CWES team as it will provide feedback to department managers on maintenance needs and
facility upkeep strategies and work plans.
The ideal candidate will possess a background of at least 5 years in a general maintenance role and working
with the public. A variable work schedule, including weekends and flexibility on daily duties is required.
Knowledge of general maintenance as noted below, ability to operate tractors, drive a dump truck and
operation of mowing equipment is required. Strong organizational skills and a team mentality are essential.

Department/University Description: In the summer, CWES serves undergraduate students during a field
experience course, and then serves youth ages 6-17 for residential camps Sunday-Friday. During the school
year, CWES serves visiting school groups, adult contract groups, and an on-site charter school.

Skills/Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of five (5) years in a general maintenance role and working with the public
- Knowledge of general maintenance as listed in the position description.
- Ability to operate tractors
- Ability to drive a dump truck
- Operation of mowing equipment
Preferred:
- Strong organizational skills
- Team mentality
Appointment Date: May 15th or shortly thereafter
Terms of Employment: This is a permanent 100% University Staff position. This position will be required
to serve a six-month probation period. Work on three shifts including weekends, holidays, on-call and
emergencies may be required. A pre-employment physical assessment will be required. The position
requires driving a state vehicle and meeting the requirements of driving a state vehicle is a condition of
employment as well as the maintenance of a valid Wisconsin driver’s license (regular, Class D License).
