Position: Program Assistant
Department: Watershed Center, College of Natural Resources
Classification: University Services Associate 1 (16600)
Pay Schedule-range: 02-09, hourly pay rate starting at 15.18/hour. Average annual earnings may range
from $13,185 to $21,174.
Work Location: Trainer Natural Resources Building
Shift: During standard office hours (7:30am-3:00pm), Tuesday - Thursdays. 12-18 hours per week, with
additional hours and days possible. There is some flexibility to determine the regular schedule in discussion
with the supervisor.

Position Description: The successful candidate for this position will: (1) Provide administrative services
such as ordering supplies and equipment, performing some financial monitoring and tracking (print
out financial reports, reconcile expenses, billing, etc.), answering phones, responding to emails,
mail pick-up delivery, and receptionist duties. (2) Perform data entry of water-well and analytical
information as well as entry into a Laboratory Information Management System. (3) Assist in
preparation of outreach materials, including assembling informational folders for participants in
UW-Extension drinking water education programs. (4) Handle additional responsibilities
including shipping and receiving sample containers and acting as a back-up for personnel during
vacation or sick leave.
Department/University Description: The Center for Watershed Science and Education is a partnership
between the UW-Stevens Point College of Natural Resources and the UW–Extension. In the spirit of the
Wisconsin Idea, the Center works across the state supporting watershed stewardship, assisting citizens with
lake, river and drinking water quality problems, promoting management strategies for water resource
protection, providing water quality assessment and support, and preparing students for careers as water
resource professionals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Required:
- Good attention to detail, accuracy, and work quality
- Ability to schedule and complete work tasks in a timely manner and independently
- Accurate and rapid data entry
- Able to work in a team environment and take direction from multiple co-workers
- Ability to work with the Microsoft Office suite of software, with proficiency in Word and Excel
- Human relation skills for working with customers and clientele
- Lift 25 lbs
Preferred:
- Book keeping experience
Appointment Date: July 5, 2016 or shortly thereafter
Terms of Employment: This is a 50% hourly position, with a pay rate started at 15.18/hour. Average
annual earnings may range from $13,185 to $21,174. This position will be required to serve a six-month
probation period. This position will work 2-3 days a week for an average of 12-18 hours. Additional hours
might be possible for providing coverage for colleague vacation and other leave.
