Course Approval Process and Course Accreditation Management (CAM) Project
Professor Sue Willis reported on the following:
- The Course Accreditation Management (CAM) replaced Curriculum Approval and Publication System
(CAPS) which was wound back. The CAM project aims to simplify the course approval process and to
utilise a technology-based process to move documents and to keep long term records of course
accreditation status, changes and reviews.
- Professor Willis explained the new course approval templates. The memo and notice of planning
document is the coversheet.
- If a course/major/specialisation is offered on the Malaysian campus, it will need to demonstrate
consistency with the Malaysian Qualification Framework.
- Compliance documents have been simplified.
- Business cases to be reviewed by Provost or Vice-Provost (Graduate Education). CAPC is responsible
for signing off on management and governance.
- Committee members were encouraged to start using the new course approval templates, and to
provide comments/feedback to Professor Willis.
7
Transition of Malaysian Portfolio to Course Architecture Compliance
Members noted that:
- Eight courses are to be transitioned to the Course Architecture compliant portfolio and are
recommended under 8.2 for transmission to Academic Board for approval.
- One course was transitioned in 2014 as course architecture compliant. The edited academic course
description is recommended under 8.3 for forwarding to Academic Board for noting as the ground
zero 2015 version.
- Four courses were transitioned in 2014/15 and the 2015 ground zero version already noted by
Academic Board along with the Australian campus portfolio at meeting 1/2015. They require no
action on the part of CAPC.
- One course was transitioned in 2014 as course architecture compliant. The edited academic course
description will be brought to CAPC 4/2015 for forwarding to Academic Board for noting as the
ground zero 2015 version.
- The remaining courses will transition later in 2015. This includes 'end-on' honours courses which will
transition with the Australian based courses.
- On behalf of the Committee, the Chair acknowledged colleagues in Malaysia for their work on getting
the Malaysian Portfolio Course Architecture compliant for roll-out in 2016. The Malaysian campus
