The purpose of the Mission Review Committee is to evaluate the mission statement of the

attached). The committee was selected by the constituents of the college and consists of
representatives from faculty, students, staff, alumni, and the community.
2. Introductions of committee members present
3. Discussion of proposed course of action
• The committee discussed the current Mission Statement. The majority of those present
indicated that the present document is too long and could be condensed.
• The following questions should be answered in the mission statement:
Who we are?
What does the college stand for? (Value statement)
Who does the college serve?
What services does the college provide?
• It was the consensus that the group should solicit input from college constituents. The
following groups will be surveyed: Faculty, Staff, Community, Students, and Alumni.
• Faculty/Staff – an online survey will be developed and implemented. Monica Trujillo,
Cheryl Spencer, and Jeanne Galvin will develop the survey with input from the entire
committee.
• Community – a focus group will be convened. The composition will consist of
secondary educators, professionals from local businesses (including healthcare), elected
officials, and chamber of commerce representatives. Denise Ward and Paul Marchese
