FORT SCOTT COMMUNITY COLLEGE Position Description IS10 NAME: JOB TITLE: DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Institutional Research Institutional Research Dean of Finance and Operations MONTHS PER YEAR: 12 HOURS PER WEEK: Exempt UPDATE: 04-16 CREDENTIALS/QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis and Data Processing, Information Systems, or equivalent General knowledge of information systems for educational institutions preferred Background in management information systems or administrative systems for higher education preferred Proven programming capabilities Well developed oral and written communication skills Ability to perform at a high level of efficiency with minimal supervision Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the college community Successful in designing, evaluating, modifying, and managing computer database systems Demonstrated ability to manage/support/analyze large data sets and reporting systems Successful management of POISE modules desirable JOB PURPOSE Responsible for analysis, development, implementation, operation, documentation, maintenance, and training related to the database systems used by the college. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide leadership in the development of policies and procedures for the efficient operation of the college’s database systems Oversee the statistical research to support the goals, objectives, and requirements of the college Develop annual budget proposals for the operation of the department and implement as approved Ensure that all staff are kept updated on technical advances and are provided with the appropriate training in all phases of their operation related to the collection and analysis of data Design, implement, and apply necessary updates to the database programs Prepare system, program, and user documentation Develop and supervise training programs for administrative and support staff Provide technical support for the Administrative system and the users of the POISE software modules Work independently in a rapidly changing environment to prioritize and monitor work flow in order to meet deadlines Prepare long-term plans for the college to support the expansion and growth of the college Must be punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including, but not limited to attendance standards and work deadlines; beginning and ending assignments on time; and scheduled work breaks, where applicable Must maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with employees, vendors and/or any other representatives of external organization Perform other related, similar or logical assignments as assigned Comply with all College policies and procedures Employee: ____________________________________ Signature Date: _______________ Salary: All job descriptions are subject to revision based on changing needs of the college.
