INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Catalog Description:
PHED 20 – Introduction to Physical Education
3 units
Survey of physical education with emphasis on basic elements, foundations, career opportunities and the
relationship of physical education to other fields. The class will meet 3 hours per week.
Prerequisite Skills:
None
Expected Outcomes for the Students:
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
1. develop an understanding of physical education through program observation;
2. understand different approaches to physical education at different levels of education;
3. understand the relationship of education to different career opportunities in physical education.
