CONVERSATIONAL FRENCH
Catalog Description:
50C - Conversational French
2 units
Development of skills learned in French 50B. Understanding and speaking French through
pronunciation, vocabulary, applied grammar, and the everyday life of French-speaking people.
Prerequisite: French 50B completed with a grade of "C" or better. 3 hours.
Expected Outcomes for Students:
Upon completion of the course, the student should:
1. have become proficient in using the conversational structures and vocabulary presented;
2. have further developed an understanding and appreciation of the culture of French-speaking
people.
Course Content:
1. Review and "recycling" of content of French 50A and 50B
2. Functional vocabulary and grammar to allow students to express feelings, judgements, and
opinions, and to persuade or dissuade, as well as to make suggestions and discuss alternatives
3. Culture-specific information required for successful interaction in target culture
