With SSSP mandates, the number of students served at Student Online Services (SOS) have increased within the last two years. Given the current SOS staffing, One full time (40 hours) One part time (20 hours) staff, 20 additional hours are the minimum increase in hours to meet demand of SOS services, including extended SOS open hours (evening service hours). What educational programs or institutional purposes does this position support? How does the request relate specifically to your Program Review, the College’s Strategic Plan, and/or Accreditation Recommendations? SSSP mandates all students to complete online application and online orientation services. With a push for increase enrollment, application and online orientation support is vital and SOS play a central role in providing that support. Assist low-income students who do not have the ability to afford technology tools and internet access. Additionally, SOS serve students who need support with computer application systems and other technology related issues. This serves to bridge the equity gap. SOS also serves Early Decision students from 25 local high schools, including students from Hayward Promise Neighborhood schools. Where will the individual work? To whom will the person report? The consequence will be an inability to fully adhere to SSSP mandates Lower number of students will be able to participate in priority registration In addition, this will negatively impact retention rates due to not completing fundamental general education courses and core services such as PSCN 25 The ultimate outcome will result in a widening of the equity gap and student inability to meet educational goals What alternative approaches have been considered in meeting the programmatic demands of this request?
