As a university student who will be seeking employment, either now or in the future, a Website showcasing yourself and your capabilities and achievements will be a very useful item. The idea of the Web site is that it could be used as your online curriculum vita. You are at liberty to choose what you display on the Web site, but you have many choices. Typically a Web site of this form would contain, relevant personal details, academic history and achievements, previous work experience, work samples (eg. graphics design samples), interests and hobbies etc. In the assignment, you should aim to display all the skills you have learned in this unit. You are required to create a Web site that is easy to use, the carries the information in a clear and concise fashion. The assignment will be assessed according to the quality of its design, layout and construction and of course the information and message it contains. We would expect as a minimum, a site that contains at least 10 pages, plenty of graphics and images and a variety of links and paths, both internal and external. The site should not exceed 5 Mbytes in size. You are free to copy images and links to use in your site so long as you clearly cite the source of all resources that have not been developed by yourself. Submission Requirements For this assignment, you are required to submit the web site you have prepared together with a written description detailing: • a site map and the organisation of the various pages and files; • a description of the considerations that influenced your design and page layout; and • a description of the navigation and orientation strategies employed. The various files and folders will all need to be contained within a folder named with your surname and first initial (maximum of 8 characters). The first page of the site should be titled index.htm to enable the site to be opened through an URL that accesses the folder you have submitted. Your written description should also be in the submitted folder and named description.doc. Completed files should be archived and uploaded to your tutor’s folder using the File Submission section of the CMM1108 Website. Detailed instructions for this will be provided to you. Assessment Criteria The assignment will be marked according to the following criteria: • the quality of the documentation; • the quality of page design and interface, • the quality of the navigation and orientation; • the quality and scope of the information contained; • the extent and scope of the system produced in terms of HTML features, graphics and information.
