Minutes
Meeting of September 26, 2005
A scheduled meeting of the Arts and Sciences Committee on Academic Programs convened at
3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2005 in Holden Hall 129. Members present were Borst,
Curzer, Hubbard, Neusel, Stoll, vonEnde, and Stewart. Presenters present were Drs. Joe King
and Gary Elbow (Economics/Geography & Honors, respectively), and Drs. Mary Jane Hurst and
Colleen Fitzgerald (English).
The committee voted to recommend favorably to the next level all of the following proposals.
Each proposal requires some minor revisions that will be conveyed separately to the presenters.
1. GEOG 2300 Human Geography
Proposed as an option for Social and Behavioral Sciences requirement of the Core
Curriculum and as an option for the university requirement in Multicultural studies
2. ENGL 5338: Syntax
Proposed new course
3. ENGL 5339: Phonology
Proposed new course
4. Graduate Certificate Program in Linguistics (English)
Proposed new graduate certificate program
The meeting adjourned at 4:30.
The next scheduled meeting of ASCAP is October 10, 2005, for proposals that reach committee
members by October 3, 2005
