CHILDREN’S BOOKS COLLECTION
– The Jumpstart Program’s Boston
College branch is collecting books to assist their work in preparing children
from low-income communities for success in kindergarten and beyond. If you
have gently used books for very young children that your family has outgrown,
please consider donating them via the Jumpstart box in the Lower Church, or by bringing
them to the rectory. If you have questions, please contact Jerry at sloang@bc.edu or 617662-6105.
ST. COLUMBKILLE PARTNERSHIP SCHOOL
is now accepting registrations for the 2010-
2011 school year. A limited number of seats are available in grades Pre-K through 8. The St.
Columbkille Partnership School is an exciting learning environment where students have access to
the newest curriculum materials and technology. For more information, call 617-254-3110.
OUTREACH MINISTRIES
OPERATION RICE BOWL is still in progress! Please bring in your
donations after Easter Sunday; the large collection bowls will be both
upstairs and down on April10th/11th. For further information about all
that Catholic Relief Services does, go to www.crs.org.
DID YOU REMEMBER YOUR SOCKS AND FLIP-FLOPS?? One collection
box is by the Outreach table and the other in the hallway outside the Friary
Room. What’s needed are new, white cotton socks (male and female) and new
flip-flops for shower use. The Drive ends March 31st. To learn more about
Boston Health Care for the Homless Program, go to www.bhchp.org.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY: This month, two teams of St. Ignatius
parishioners directed their almsgiving efforts of time and labor to
work at Habitat for Humanity building sites. In addition to the
donation of volunteer labor, Habitat requires participating organizations to make a cash
donation to underwrite the expenses incurred for building materials and paid supervisory
staff. It’s not too late to support our Teams! If you’d like to be a part of the parish’s
Habitat effort through your cash donation, call Sr. Diane at 617-552-6107.
PROJECT BREAD WALK FOR HUNGER: Just 34 days until
the Walk! Registration materials are on the Outreach table
for the Sunday, May 2nd event. You can participate by being a
walker, a volunteer or a sponsor. Online registration is now
open and TEAM IGNATIUS is ready for members to sign on.
Go to
www.projectbread.org for more information or call Sr. Diane – 617-552-6107- with
questions.
BLESSING OF EASTER FOODS: This tradition, so much a
part of many families for generations, will be continued at
St. Ignatius on Holy Saturday, April 3rd, at 11 AM in the
Lannon Chapel. Foods to be eaten on Easter and to be blessed can include
(but are not limited to) meat, eggs, beets, horseradish and bread.
SHATTUCK SPRINGTIME MEAL: This year’s Meal is on Saturday, April
24th. Since Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday mean more worshipers and much
more activity in the Gathering Space, we’ll wait until April 10th/11th to begin
sign-ups for the Meal. That means just two sign-up weekends, so be sure to
get to the Outreach table!
