SPECIAL COLLECTION FOR THE ARCHDIOCESAN CLERGY FUND
Next Weekend, September 21/22nd, there will be a special collection for the 645 Archdiocesan active and
senior priests. The mission of the Clergy Fund is to ensure the highest quality care and quality of life for
priests, especially when age or health dictates. We need your help. Remember the priests who have
made a difference in your life and consider honoring them with a gift that helps care for them in their
time of need. Thank you for your generous support.
FALL PARISH RETREAT AT EASTERN POINT IN GLOUCESTER
This semi-annual retreat is an opportunity to enter more deeply into the mystery of God’s love
for us. You will have an opportunity for spiritual conversation, silent prayer and gatherings of
prayer and worship with members of the parish community. The retreat will be held Friday,
October 25th to Sunday, October 27th . The cost for the weekend is $275 (all inclusive), with a deposit of
$100 at registration. If anyone is in need of financial assistance in order to attend, please let us know.
Please register through the Parish Office 617-552-6102, or ignatius@bc.edu.
PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN PROGRAM
The Archdiocese of Boston requires all volunteers (in whatever capacity) to complete a training program in child
abuse protection. If you are thinking of becoming a volunteer in any of our ministries (lector, coordinator of
liturgy, choir member, etc.), or if you are already a new volunteer in any ministry, you must be able to verify your
attendance at a Protecting God’s Children (PGC) program. If you have completed this program in another
location, you should have a certificate of attendance given you at that time. We need a copy of that certificate. If
you have any questions or concerns, please contact the appropriate supervisor of your ministry.
The next program will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 2:30 – 5:00 PM in the Choir/Media room in
the Lower Church.
If you plan to attend either session, please contact Mary Blackburn (617-552-6039) or Betty McLaughlin (617552-6102 / ignatius@bc.edu) as soon as possible. Space is always limited.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a safe and secure atmosphere for all the children at St. Ignatius
parish.
Fr. J.A. Loftus, S.J.
Chair,
Child Abuse Prevention Team

VOLUNTEER WITH THE HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE
The Hospitality Committee, a St. Ignatius group dedicated to offering a warm welcome to all who attend
parish events, is looking for volunteers. This vibrant ministry coordinates all the tasks necessary to have
guests feel appreciated and that St. Ignatius is a welcoming home. Some of the tasks include hosting the
event, baking, setup/cleanup, and greeting guests. Volunteers are especially needed the weekend of
Sept. 21-22 for the “Tent Event” when we come together to celebrate the St. Ignatius community If you
