FALL PARISH RETREAT AT EASTERN POINT IN GLOUCESTER
This semi-annual retreat is an opportunity to enter more deeply into the mystery of God’s love
for us. You will have an opportunity for spiritual conversation, silent prayer and gatherings of
prayer and worship with members of the parish community. The retreat will be held Friday, October 25th
to Sunday, October 27th .
The cost for the weekend is $275 (all inclusive), with a deposit of $100 at
registration. If anyone is in need of financial assistance in order to attend, please let us know. Please
register through the Parish Office 617-552-6102, or ignatius@bc.edu.
PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN PROGRAM
The Archdiocese of Boston requires all volunteers (in whatever capacity) to complete a training program in child
abuse protection. If you are thinking of becoming a volunteer in any of our ministries (lector, coordinator of
liturgy, choir member, etc.), or if you are already a new volunteer in any ministry, you must be able to verify your
attendance at a Protecting God’s Children (PGC) program. If you have completed this program in another
location, you should have a certificate of attendance given you at that time. We need a copy of that certificate. If
you have any questions or concerns, please contact the appropriate supervisor of your ministry.
There are two PGC programs coming up in September. The first is to be held on Sunday, September 15, 2013,
from 2:30 – 5:00 PM in the Choir/Media room in the Lower Church.
The second will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the same time and in the same place.
If you plan to attend either session, please contact Mary Blackburn (617-552-6039) or Betty McLaughlin (617552-6102 / ignatius@bc.edu) as soon as possible or at least before September 13, 2012. Space is always limited.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a safe and secure atmosphere for all the children at St. Ignatius
parish.
Fr. J.A. Loftus, S.J.
Chair,
Child Abuse Prevention Team

SENIOR OUTREACH ACTIVITIES: The new Outreach calendar starts up this
month and the first event of the “new” year will be the September gathering of
Senior members of the parish. If you’d like to be added to the mailing list or have
any questions, please call Sr. Diane at 617-552-6107.
FEED THE HUNGRY: Your past generosity has enabled the parish to supply
food cards to many persons who came looking for assistance. At this time,
we’re just about out of cards, so please consider picking up a card or two
when you’re shopping. Stop and Shop and STAR/Shaw’s cards are the best
for our purposes, in the amount of $10. You may put your card contribution in
the collection basket or drop it off at the Parish Office. Thank you!
