PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN PROGRAM
The Archdiocese of Boston requires all volunteers (in whatever capacity) to complete a training program in child
abuse protection. If you are thinking of becoming a volunteer in any of our ministries (lector, coordinator of
liturgy, choir member, etc.), or if you are already a new volunteer in any ministry, you must be able to verify your
attendance at a Protecting God’s Children (PGC) program. If you have completed this program in another
location, you should have a certificate of attendance given you at that time. We need a copy of that certificate. If
you have any questions or concerns, please contact the appropriate supervisor of your ministry.
The next program will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013 from 2:30 – 5:00 PM in the Choir/Media room in
the Lower Church.
If you plan to attend this session, please contact Mary Blackburn (617-552-6039) or Betty McLaughlin (617-5526102 / ignatius@bc.edu) as soon as possible. Space is always limited.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a safe and secure atmosphere for all the children at St. Ignatius
parish.

who registered, to all of our families who volunteered to help with our program this

Teach-in for Justice, November 16-18 in Washington, D. C.; a Moms Spirituality Group forming; service
opportunities for families and youth and much more!

IGNATIAN SPIRITUALITY – FINDING GOD IN ALL THINGS
At the heart of our identity as a Jesuit parish is the experience of prayer and intimacy with Jesus that is
offered through the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. There are a number of opportunities that
the parish offers to grow spiritually together through Ignatian Prayer. We hope you will take advantage
of them.
THE FIFTH WEEK Those who have already made the Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life and
would like to gather a few times a year with others who have experienced them, will need to purchase
Margaret Silf’s Companions of Christ: Ignatian Spirituality for Everyday Living. (available on Kindle).
The first gathering is Sunday afternoon October 6th, from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm in the Lannon Chapel. Please
contact Kathy Maher to sign up. (katherine.maher@bc.edu)
FOUNDATIONS OF IGNATIAN PRAYER
We will be offering “Foundations of Ignatian Prayer”
for those who would like to deepen their knowledge and experience of Ignatian prayer. This four Sunday
program will begin Sunday, October 20th and continue on the following Sundays, November 3rd,
November 17h and December 1st. (The second part of the program will be offered beginning in February)
The program will be held in the Choir/Media Room in the Lower Church from 4:00 – 5:15 pm. To

La Página Hispana
Del Escritorio del Padre Bob
Queridos Parroquianos,
▪
▪
▪
▪
▪
Cimentar nuestras vidas en los sacramentos y en el evangelio de Jesucristo;
Centrar nuestra vida parroquial en la alegría del culto a Dios en la Eucaristía;
Invitar a todas las personas de todos los sectores sociales para hacer comunidad con nosotros;
Confortar a los alienados y marginados en su camino de fe;
de nuestra comunidad;
LITTLE ROCK SCRIPTURE STUDY
This semester, we will be studying “Women in the New Testament.” Enter into discussion and prayer
about expectant faith, what it means to be touched by Jesus, and the meaning of discipleship through the
lives of the women who lived in the first generation of Christianity. The study takes place on
Wednesdays at 7:15 pm in the Lannon Chapel. The cost is $16.00, which includes a commentary, study
guide and video presentation of the study. New members are always welcome. To register, you may call
the Parish Office, 617-552-6102. If you have any questions, please call John Dafarra 781-899-9540.
The altar flowers this week were donated by Amy Larson in loving memory of her
father, Richard R. Larson and her brother, Timothy R. Larson.
If you would like to celebrate a special event or remember a loved one by donating the
flowers for the liturgy, please contact Eric Haydel at haydel.eric@yahoo.com.
