CONFIRMING FAITH- ADULT CONFIRMATION
Lent is here and so is a new program just for you. If you are a baptized Catholic and would like to be a
full member of the Catholic Church by completing the Sacraments of Initiation, now is the time to get
started. Confirming Faith begins during Lent (March 1) Sundays 3:30-5pm. Confirming Faith is open to
anyone who wants to learn more about his/her faith. In particular, Catholic adults who wish to receive
the Sacrament of Confirmation this year (April 26) are especially invited. Classes will meet from 3:30 5pm in the Friary Room for seven weeks. For more information, to answer questions and to register
call/email/message Diana Gaillardetz (diana.gaillardetz@bc.edu, 419-290-7101 or the Parish Office).
SATURDAY, MARCH 14 GENTLE THERAPEUTIC YOGA 9:00-10:15 AM
REIKI- 10:15 – 11:15 AM
This session will offer a special focus on the needs of those with mobility or health limitations. Ann
Knocke is a physical therapist and Kripalu-trained yoga teacher, who has worked at Newton Wellesley
Hospital for 10 years, mostly in carciac rehabilitation. She teaches healing yoga to cardiac, pulmonary
and cancer patients. This class, which centers on relaxation and coordinating breath with movement,
promises to be very gentle. It can be done sitting or standing, and can accommodate those who use
walkers or canes, have limited flexibility and vision, or who have never tried yoga before. Participants
need only loose-fitting clothing and a mat or towel, if they would like to lay on the floor. The Program
will be held at the BC Brighton Dance Studio at 2115 Commonwealth Ave. (across the street from BC, on the
School of Theology and Ministry campus).
Following Yoga, parishioner Maria Sullivan, Rita Beckman and Brenda Sheridan will explain the art of
Reiki, which promotes relaxation, decreases anxiety and enables healing. Reiki envelopes body, soul, and
spirit. Maria and Brenda will offer a short session to those interested.

“SEEK HIS FACE”
During the liturgical season of Lent, we are invited to examine our personal journey as an inner
pilgrimage with Christ. These reflective moments strengthen our interior life, deepening our relationship
with God. This season at St. Ignatius we invite you to reflect and share the journey and stories that we
have heard for over two thousand years in a new way.
Viewing Christ’s journey in the desert, his arrival into the city on Palm Sunday, the sharing of bread and
wine and his death and resurrection - these are the moments that are captured in an individual reflection
on the many “ingredients” of our story. In Mark’s gospel, which we will hear on the 5 Sunday of Lent,
the central affirmation is, “Sir, we would like to see Jesus”. These elements are offered to us as the many
faces of Jesus or the ways in which we “see” Christ this season.
th
Each of the glass containers encourages us to “Seek His Face” in a clear and direct way. How does each
moment call you to a deeper conversation with Christ on your journey?
OUTREACH MINISTRIES
RICE BOWL COUNTRY OF THE WEEK: NIGERCatholic Social Teaching
Focus: Dignity of Work and Rights of the Worker
Niger was ranked last out of 187 countries in the latest Human Development Index, with
71.3% of the population living below the poverty line. Due to extreme weather patterns in
2013, the Nigerien government projected that nearly half of the population (7.5 million
people) would suffer food insecurity by April 2014. The majority of Niger’s people (90 percent)
depend on rain-fed, traditional crop production and processing for their livelihoods.
However, farmers are regularly unable to support their families this way. Last year, CRS’
Bonbatu project distributed seeds to 4,176 households, provided income-generating projects
and grants to 2,400 individuals, and distributed small livestock to 2,000 women.
CRS RICE BOWL is Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten faith-in-action program for families and faith
communities. CRS Rice Bowls/Lenten Calendars are available on the Outreach table or on the
table in the Lannon Chapel.

La Página Hispana
Queridos Parroquianos,
ver a Jesús". Las historias y recorridos nos ofrecen los diversos rostros de Jesús en los cuales
"vemos" a Cristo.
Cada uno de estas historias nos animarán nuevamente a "buscar su rostro" de una manera
clara y directa. ¿Cómo es que te llama Cristo en cada momento para conversar profundamente
durante tu recorrido?
BOOK DISCUSSION
On March 22 at 11:15, there will be a discussion of the book Signs: Seven Words of Hope by Jean Vanier.
An Amazon reviewer suggests, “If you are lookng at your life and thinking: I want to be who God made
me to be, I want to make a difference with my life, you need to read this book, and pray on it. Pray on it
very much. And then ask yourself: Can I be that humble?” Plan to join us in the living room of the
Parish Center on March 22 and give us your reaction to this book.
in the Dining Room at the Parish Office from
6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Newcomers are always
welcome!
Prior registration required: call
Catherine at 617-782-5812 or e-mail to
cfdesq@hotmail.com, to reserve a place at the
table.
LITTLE ROCK SCRIPTURE STUDY
This semester, we are studying The Galatians
and Romans. St. Paul insists that faith is
fundamental to salvation and is the free gift of
God’s love. Through letters to the fledgling
communities, Paul offers reasons for hope and
joy. The study will begin on Wednesday,
March 11th at 7:15 pm in the Old Choir Room,
Lower Church. The cost is $11.00, which
includes a commentary, study guide and DVD
presentation of the study. New members are
always welcome. To register, you may call the
Parish Office, 617-552-6102. If you have any
questions, please call John Dafarra 781-899-9540.
SAINT JOHN PAUL II CATHOLIC
ACADEMY - Saint John Paul II Academy is a
1200 student school located on four campuses in
Dorchester and Mattapan.
The largest
elementary school in Boston, it serves mostly
low income children on scholarship. Its mission
is to provide a safe, nurturing and structured
environment for its diverse student population
to grow in faith and knowledge. About sixty
percent of the children are Catholic – all are
welcome. The majority of families (77%) apply
for financial aid and, therefore, the school
always appreciates assistance, both monetarily
and in volunteer time. Please consider a way
you can help the next generation continue in our
faith. For more information, please email M.L.
Greenidge at mlgreenidge@pjp2ca.org. Go to
the Outreach table for more information about

ONE BOOK, ONE PARISH Today, March 8 , is Joy of the Gospel Sunday! We invite you to join with your fellow St.
Ignatius parishioners in continuing to read Pope Francis’ exhortation to the worldwide church.
th
After today’s 10 AM Mass, we invite you to join other parishioners in the choir room
downstairs for refreshments and a discussion of Chapter Four. There is no need to have
“studied up” in advance – all are welcome.
To help you pray and reflect with The Joy of the Gospel, here are reflection questions for
Chapter Four:
1. To “proclaim the good news to all creation” (Mark 16:15) requires us to “be concrete”
and be concerned with the building of a better world. What is your response to those
who say that religion is only a private affair?
2. In what ways can we show solidarity with the poor, more than by simply offering “a
few sporadic acts of generosity”? How are we allowing ourselves to be evangelized by
the poor? How are we directing pastoral care to the poor?
3. How is the Church working to remove “structural causes of poverty”? How can our
parish participate in this effort?
4. How is our local Catholic culture sensitive to the needs of the most vulnerable? How are
we building awareness for the plight of the homeless, the addicted, the elderly, the
victims of human trafficking, and the unborn? How are we increasing our awareness of
the impact of our own lives on the environment and the lives of those around us?
5. What is our parish doing in the area of conflict resolution? How will learning to love
others through the resolution of disagreements help us be stronger Catholic citizens of
the Church at large and the community in which we live?
6. What are some examples in which our parish has stepped out to participate in
ecumenical prayer, with people of other faiths? Has this included our neighbors who are
Jewish? How can we engage in dialogue with those of other religions or those who are
nonbelievers?
EASTER PLANT DONATIONS
For Easter, we would invite you to remember your loved ones by making a donation to
purchase a plant in their name. These plants will be used to make the Church bloom for the
season and an acknowledgement of gratitude will appear in the bulletin.
If you would like to donate, please out the form below and return to the Parish Office by March
31st, together with your donation.
Yes, I would like to donate $_________ to remember:
