The Hertford County Department of Social Services is recruiting for the following vacancy through January 31, 2012 . Processing Assistant IV Hertford County Department of Social Services Primary Purpose of Position This position is assigned to the Medicaid Unit which is a part of the Income Maintenance Unit. The purpose of the Income Maintenance Unit is to provide monetary and/or Medicaid assistance to anyone who is a citizen of the United States and in some cases aliens, residents of Hertford County and who has a valid need for the assistance and qualifies under the State and Federal guidelines. The Medicaid Unit’s operational activities consist of Intake, Processing, determining Eligibility and re-determining Eligibility. One significant purpose of this position is to ensure effective computer operations between the agency and the State. This position also provides clerical support to the Medicaid Staff of eleven Income Maintenance Caseworkers and two Medicaid Supervisors; as well as coordination and training Income Maintenance Caseworkers on a daily basis relative to computer operations and functions. The tasks include problem solving and trouble shooting. Knowledges, Skills and Abilities Significant knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods and practices. Significant knowledge of and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling and office terminology to compose and/or proofread correspondence, reports and other materials. Significant knowledge of accounting procedures, mathematics and their application in the work environment. Ability to learn and independently apply laws and departmental rules and regulations covering programs and services. Ability to review and process information to determine conclusions, actions or compliance with applicable laws, rules or regulations. Ability to apply a variety of work-related formulas or mathematical calculations. Ability to record, compiles, summarize and perform basic analysis of data. Ability to independently work with people with courtesy and tact in performing public contact duties that may be sensitive in nature. May require ability to supervise and coordinate the work of other staff, student workers or volunteers. Minimum Training and Experience Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
