DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Primary purpose is to facilitate several types of meetings. Facilitation prepares, organizes and facilitates Child and Family Team(CFT) meetings of Child Protective Services(CPS) and Foster Care(FC) cases with a finding of substantiation/services needed for CPS and custody of a child for FC. CFT meetings are to be held within 30 days of the case decision or when the agency receives custody of a child(ren) and periodically reconvenes during the life of the child welfare case as required by NC State policy. The goal is to bring the family and community partners together to support the family in the development and implementation of a plan that will provide safety and protection to all identified children. The family is at the center of the planning of a DSS approved family services case plan. Facilitator works closely with CPS and FC staff to schedule CFT’s timely. The Facilitator assess risk in advance and takes action to safeguard all participants in CFT’s and facilitates CFT’s respecting families while insuring agencies mission of the safety and protection of children. When a child is taken into custody a Transition Team Meeting is scheduled within three days to perform the paperwork and documentation necessary to move a child from CPS to FC. The facilitator will organize, conduct and ensure that these meetings are accomplished according to WCDSS internal expectations. On occasion a facilitator will conduct a family meeting for the purposes of providing a forum for a case involved in CPS or Prevention Services to bring a family together voluntarily to discuss concerns and options for moving a family forward to properly provide safety for the child. Position is subject to after-hours duty to provide flexible meeting times to accommodate a family’s schedule. Requires the ability to work effectively in a teamwork setting and maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with team members, community professionals, and agency leaders. Requires a valid driver’s license as well as dependable transportation. Must possess and be able to demonstrate intermediate level of personal computer skills. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative (Child Welfare positions only); Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; Master's degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience; Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience. PREFERENCES: Prefer applicants with social work experience in a Department of Social Services and Human Services Degree; or social work experience in a human services setting and a Human Service Degree; BSW or MSW Degrees; or a Human Services Related Masters Level Degree.
