Position Responsibilities: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Coordinator of DSS Child and Family Team (CFT) Conferences. This position is responsible for facilitating, coordinating, recruiting and consulting with other agencies, other CFT Conference facilitators, and overseeing the CFT Program. Through the process of working with social workers in the Investigation, Treatment, Foster Care and Adoption units, the position will plan and ensure the effective facilitation of Child and Family Team Conferences. The position will gather case information from social workers including a list of the desired participants, the strengths and needs of the family, the desired outcomes, time, date and location of the meeting. In addition, the position will provide accurate data tracking of meetings conducted by staff facilitators, develop/enhance facilitator skills of staff and volunteer facilitators, and provide reports and feedback to supervisors. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Directly facilitate Child Family Team (CFT) conferences and/or coordinate facilitation; coordination of logistics to ensure community and interagency participation in conferences; Maintain Division CFT Conference calendar and develop and maintain a Facilitator Scheduling Calendar; Identify staff and/or community volunteer facilitators, ensure the required training is provided to each facilitator prior to any CFT meetings; Assist CPS, Foster Care and Adoption social workers in the identification of the target population. This position is responsible for balancing meetings with social workers availability, assuring quality assurance of the facilitation process, and managing Family Conferencing Data. This position provides feedback to facilitators and their supervisors and works to provide up-to-date family conferencing and other related professional training/information for CPS social work staff and supervisors. Documentation and Consultation: Initiate case records in accordance with the state and local policy, including case narratives, completion of intake reports, clinical notes, correspondence, court documents and statistical reports, and all forms of documentation required by the Division of Social Service and North Carolina General Statutes; provide consultation to schools, Mental Health Centers, law enforcement officers, physicians, hospital staff, attorneys, and judges especially in neglect/abuse cases to determine the need for protective services intervention; consultation to determine if a child needs protective services or the availability of other resources to assists the child with problems at home or at school; consult with the agency attorney and testify in court and coordinate presentation of other evidence. This employee works independently and has much latitude in planning work and taking action. Casework techniques or strategies are recommended by social work supervisor on unusual or difficult cases. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative (Child Welfare positions only); Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; Master's degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience; Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience. Also, those with a Social Worker degree from an accredited school of social work will be given preference; however, anyone who has a Human Services Degree or a 4-year degree may apply as “work against appointments” and will be considered. .
