DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Position provides direct supervision who are responsible for establishing paternity, locating absent parents, establishing child support payments and enforcement of orders. Responsibilities of the position include initial and ongoing training of Child Support Agents, orientation, and advise staff on all changes in program and policy. Plans, set priorities and goals to ensure program operation and compliance. Coordinates efficient work flow between Establishment and Enforcement, activities between Clerk of court, attorneys, judges, and deputies and also other teams within the agency. Meets with staff individually or team on a regular basis to discuss work flow, case review, policy changes, work methods, customer issues and Section accomplishments. Monitors quality and quantity of work, assist with unusual or difficult cases. Regularly review cases to ensure ongoing compliance. Develops procedures to improve efficiency, enhance customer service and customer relations. Monitors expenditures for legal services and paternity testing. Participates in the interview and selection process of hiring employees for Child Support, evaluate employee performance, coaches and/or discipline employees. Keep employees abreast of agency, state, and county policies. Must stay abreast and current on all information from the State Child Support Office, manual material and participate in continuous learning to provide effective leadership. Thorough knowledge of Child Support Program, related legal procedures, judicial operations, and office management practices and procedures. Working knowledge of supervisory practices and management techniques. Skills in interviewing, investigating, analyzing case variables. Ability to organize and summarize case information; ability to represent program in oral and written form. Requires the ability to work effectively in a teamwork setting and maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with team members, agency leaders and community professionals. Requires a valid driver’s license as well as dependable transportation. Applicant must possess and be able to demonstrate intermediate level of personal computer skills. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school plus four and one half years of experience in investigative, judiciary, eligibility, attorney's office or related work which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform the work, including one year of IV-D experience: or four year degree plus one and one half years of experience in the Child Support Enforcement Program; or Associate of Arts Degree in business, human resources, law enforcement or closely related field and two and one half years of experience in investigative, judiciary, eligibility, attorney's office or related work, including one year of IV-D experience. PREFERENCES: Prefer applicants with experience in a department of social services.
