LENOIR COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II GRADE: 65 DATE: September 21, 2015 SALARY RANGE: $28,523 - $50,333 POSITION NO: 5310-03-104 DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary purpose of this position is to provide supervision of reception, mail, records management, maintenance, grounds and janitorial services. This position will also provide complex administrative and accounting support to the County Social Services Business Officer. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to delegate and carry out assigned responsibilities and maintain a harmonious working relationship among clerical staff and internal and external clients. Ability to read, understand, follow, and effectively explain policies and procedures as well as State/Federal requirements. Considerable knowledge of management principles including skills in problem solving, decision making, short and long range planning, priority setting and conflict management. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with multiple disciplines and varied agencies or businesses. Must possess excellent computer skills, excellent public contact skills, good oral and written communication skills, and excellent knowledge of office practice procedures. Ability to gather and give information and instruction regarding department programs. Ability to interpret and analyze applicable program content in order to make necessary decisions. Ability to coordinate work assignments with other individuals. Ability to independently exercise judgment and discretion in problem situations. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school graduation or equivalent and five years of progressively responsible administrative and accounting experience including one year of administrative and accounting office management experience; or completion of a two year business administration or accounting program and three years of progressively responsible administrative and accounting office experience including one year of administrative and accounting management experience; or completion of a four year program in a college or university preferably with major emphasis on coursework in business administration, public administration, or other related field and six months of administrative and accounting office management experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of onthe-job training will be necessary to become competent in all job responsibilities with the above experience or education. One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
