SELLATAN® WL-G liq. - Metal-Free Pretanning and Retanning Agent
Features
®
SELLATAN WL-G liq. is a solvent-free mixture of aliphatic
polyaldehydes and high molecular weight polyhydroxide components, for
use in the pretanning of wet-white.
®
SELLATAN WL-G liq. is non-ionic.
Lightfastness: No detrimental effect on finished leathers.
Stability to electrolytes: Very good, suitable for all procedures,
particularly in short floats, and in pickling and chrome baths.
Astringency: Astringency increases with increasing pH to the point
where shrunken grain is produced.
Levelling effect: Good dyeability.
Effect on leather colour: Minimal shade weakening.
Handling & storage:
Wear goggles and gloves during handling and close containers tightly
afterwards.
Can be stored for about 2 years (from date of production) if kept between
10°C and 35°C. If product becomes frozen, warm to approx. 20°C and stir
before use.

SELLATAN WL-G liq. is a pretanning agent for all types of leather to
produce chrome-free, pretanned stock with a very good shaving
behaviour.

Due to its special formulation, SELLATAN WL-G liq. is able to penetrate
quickly and easily through the cross-section of the pickled hides. It results
in :
• regular shrinkage temperatures over the whole hide and also
from leather batch to leather batch.
• good heat stability for splitting & shaving operations
• smooth grain
• soft and round handle

The use of SELLATAN WL-G liq. in the retannage of wet-blue results in
soft leather with a smooth grain & more intense dyeing’s.

SELLATAN WL-G liq. is particularly recommended for the following
applications:
• pre-tanning of wet-white
• retanning of wet-white & wet-blue
• shrunken-grain leather
• vegetable tannages and pretannages
• aqueous degreasing of sheepskins
