SELLASOL® HFN liq. - Mellow retanning agent with softening effect
Features
SELLASOL® HFN liq. is a combination of phenolic sulphonic acids with
protein derivates.
Charge: Amphoteric.
Lightfastness: Very good.
Yellowing: Leathers and finished products are stable to storage.
Astringency:
Low, thus excellent grain smoothness and fineness.
Stability to electrolytes:
Adequate, acid-precipitable below pH 4.5.
Effect on leather colour:
Slight shade weakening.
Levelling effect:
Good dyeability.
Electrolyte content:
Very low, thus low effluent pollution.
Handling & storage:
Wear goggles and gloves during handling. ALWAYS STIR BEFORE USE
and close containers tightly afterwards.
Can be stored for about 1 year (from date of production) if kept between
10°C and 35°C. If product becomes frozen, warm to approx. 20°C and stir
before use.
Benefits
SELLASOL® HFN liq. imparts a marked, selective filling effect. Below pH
4.5, SELLASOL® HFN liq. is precipitable. Therefore selective use of the
product promotes excellent fullness and buffability. At higher pH value the
softness of the leathers is increased.
SELLASOL® HFN liq. is also suitable (at lower pH value) to produce
suede leathers with a short nap.
At pH 5 - 7, SELLASOL® HFN liq. imparts a high degree of softness
without impairing the chrome character of the leathers.
Application
In general, 3 - 6 % SELLASOL® HFN liq. (calculated on the shaved
weight) is applied in the retanning stage or after the main fatliquoring at
pH value not below 4.5. SELLASOL® HFN liq. will than be fixed by
lowering the pH value.
