Under the Federal No Child Left Behind law, parents have the right to ask for certain information about their child’s classroom teachers, and requires the district to give parents this information in a timely manner if they ask for it. Specifically, parents have the right to ask for the following information about each of their child’s classroom teachers: Whether the Department of Education has licensed or qualified the teacher for the grades and subjects he or she teaches. Whether the Department has decided that the teacher can teach in a classroom without being licensed or qualified under state regulations because of special circumstances. The teacher’s college major; whether the teacher has any advanced degrees and, if so, the subject of the degrees. If you would like to receive any of this information, please call Tom Pederstuen, Director of Human Resources at 651-423-7859. Use of e-mail at Rosemount Elementary School: We value effective communication at our school. The use of e-mail has increased over the last few years. Most of our staff members do not have their e-mail accounts open during the school day while they are working with students. As stated in our handbook: The staff at RES have an agreement to reply to e-mails within two school days. If your need to communicate with a staff member is urgent, please call the school office (651-423-7690) and we will relay your message to the appropriate person. Rosemount Elementary School Visit our Website - http://district196.org/re RES 2012 Inventors Fair During the week of January 3rd inventions will be on display in the library. New ideas or improvements for a wide assortment of problems will be on display. Many of these inventions and their inventors are using the RES Inventors Fair as a stepping-stone for the District Inventors Fair on January 14th. Students from grades 4 and 5 are able to participate. The school fair is a way for these students to display their ideas in a non-competitive manner, and get feedback from teachers so they can make improvements, if they choose to participate in the Districts Inventors Fair. Most importantly it is a showcase for some of our fabulous kids with great ideas, dedication, and courage. Out of 250 students from our school who could have come up with an invention only these students persevered to the end. Throughout the process some students have run into obstacles and dropped out of the fair, they did not. This is what we celebrate! KINDERGARTEN PLUS 2012-13 Registration Information Kindergarten Plus is an optional, fee-based, extended day program that complements traditional (half-day, free) kindergarten. The program is a collaboration between Elementary Education, which oversees the morning kindergarten program, and Community Education, which administers the afternoon Kindergarten Plus program. Morning and afternoon sessions are taught by the same licensed kindergarten teacher, resulting in a cohesive, all-day experience for students. For your child to be eligible for the initial 2012-13 Kindergarten Plus program random drawing, your completed Kindergarten Plus application and $170 deposit is due by 4pm on Friday, January 20th. Please note: Applying for the Kindergarten Plus program does not replace registration for kindergarten at Rosemount Elementary. You will also need to register your child here at RES on February 29th or March 1st.
