Welcome to Lincoln IB World Middle School! We are excited to welcome your
student as a new member of the 7th Grade Team Dragons. Below you will find
some important information about our school and team policies. It’s very
important that you are aware of our team policies and procedures. Please sit
down with your student and go over these policies together. Please sign and
detach the bottom part of this paper stating that you’ve read and
understand our policies and send it back to school with your student. Also,
for more information, please join us August 25, 2010 for Back to School Night.
Lincoln is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, which means every
student here is an IB student in the Middle Years Programme (MYP). The aim
of the MYP is to foster internationally minded, independent learners. Here is a
very brief introduction of what it means to be an IBMYP student:
 IBMYP Learner Profile: Inquirer, Knowledgeable, Thinker,
Communicator, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-taker, Balanced,
and Reflective. These qualities are taught and emphasized in every class
throughout the year, and they are taught directly in Culture Camp class
first quarter.
 Areas of Interaction: content is taught through one or more of these
lenses…
o Approaches to Learning – taking charge of your learning
o Community and Service – being a responsible citizen in the
world
o Health and Social Education – total development of the person
and of the society
o Environment – humans depend on nature; nature depends on
humans
o Human Ingenuity – humans as thinkers, inventors, and creators
Class work and Homework Policy

2. If late work is turned in during the next unit it will be given 50% credit.
3. Two units late it will be 0% credit.
*If you are absent you will have 2 class periods for each day missed to turn in
your work for full credit. If not turned in within 2 class periods, refer to the Late
Work Policy.

in the planner); 2) appropriate 3-ring binder; 3) Loose leaf paper; 4) Writing

Disciplinary Guidelines
Redirect System - The purpose of the redirect system is to promote positive
behavior and allow all students to be successful in the classroom. In the
classroom, the redirect system will look like this:
1st Redirect- Teacher will respectfully ask student about his/her behavior.
2nd Redirect- Teacher will make an observational statement about the behavior,
tell the student the desired behavior and ask for understanding.
3rd Redirect- Minor referral that results in a problem solving sheet.
Students unable to redirect their behavior after completing the problem solving
sheet will be sent to In School Suspension. Three Problem solving sheets in one
class will result in Step 1 Formal Removal and parents will be called in for a
meeting. *Severe actions may result in skipping of steps as noted in the code of
conduct manual.
Food/Drinks/Gum: Clear water is allowed in closed containers only. Other food
and drinks are allowed with teacher permission only! Gum should not be seen or
heard, and should be disposed of properly.
