Clickers:
We will be using clickers in lecture, and your responses will be collected for grading. You do not
need to answer correctly to receive credit. A clicker can be purchased at the bookstore, but
you may use another device that has ResponseWare installed. Regardless, you must register
your device on Blackboard. The link is available below Course Content.
Homework:
Homework assignments will be given each week using MyLabsPlus. There will be a homework
due during dead week. Your user name is your ISU Net-ID, and your initial password is the
last four digits of your student ID number. You will need an access code, which is bundled with
new textbooks; if you bought a used textbook, you will need to buy an access code separately.
Click here for information regarding registering.
Quizzes:
Quizzes will be given during recitation. Calculators will not be allowed on quizzes.
Exams:
We will have two exams (tentative dates: 9/18 and 11/6) that will be held during lecture. Exams
will be closed notes, and will be worth 10% each. Calculators will be allowed on exams;
however, lack of work may result in loss of credit.
Midterm Exam:
There will be a departmental midterm exam that will be given Wednesday October 7th at 8:15 PM
in Kildee 0125. There are two parts to the Midterm: one part with calculators not permitted
and one part with calculators permitted. More details will be given as we approach the exam.
Final Exam:
There will a be a departmental final exam given during finals week.
Calculators and Other Electronic Devices:
You may use any calculator that does not have wireless communication features, when permitted.
Other electronic devices may be used during lecture for educational purposes only.
Disabilities:
If you have a documented disability that requires assistance, you will need to go to the Disability
Resource (DR) Office for coordination of your academic accommodations. The DR is located in
the Student Services Building, Room 1076. Their phone number is 515-294-6624. No retroactive
accommodations will be provided in this class.
Conduct and General Class Policies:
I expect all students to behave in a respectful manner during lecture, and you will be asked to
leave the lecture if you are being inappropriate and/or disruptive.
If you have to (legitimately) miss a lecture/quiz/exam, contact either the instructor or your teaching
assistant as soon as possible. You will have one week from the date of an assessment to
schedule a make-up, unless extenuating circumstances prevent you from doing so.
Missing the Midterm or Final is not allowed.
For more information regarding academic regulations, see the Class Policies. Additionally, resources
for help in mathematics can be found here.
