Wright to direct its newly restructured Division of Multimedia Properties (DMP). He starts April 5. “Randall brings the kind of experience, energy and vision that will guide our media properties to achieving their full educational and programming potential,” said Dean John Wright. Randall Wright has served in various media ownership, senior management and industry leadership positions throughout his career in television, radio and new media. He served as chairman of the Missouri Broadcasters Association. He’s also the longtime public address announcer for University of Missouri men’s basketball and football teams and served in the same capacity for the NFL’s St. Louis Rams in 2009. “I view this as an extraordinary opportunity to be a part of what is likely the most unique media environment in America,” Randall Wright said. He earned a master’s in journalism (media management) from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Dean John Wright recently announced the appointment of Bridget Grogan as the new adviser to UF’s ABC News On Campus bureau. Grogan Grogan will supervise and provide counsel to the bureau’s student staff, which has worked with the College’s faculty and staff and ABC News professionals in New York since 2008. “Bridget has outstanding professional skills and experience and possesses unwavering commitment to the highest level of values and ethics of journalism,” Wright said. “She has a strong record of excellence in teaching and mentoring students.” Besides serving as bureau adviser, Grogan will continue to teach telecommunication courses and serve as WUFT-TV’s associate news director. Boyle’s “Views from the Margins: News Coverage of Women in Abortion Protests, 1960-2006.” The Journal of Media and Religion recently accepted Ronald Rodgers’ “The Press, Pulpit and Public Opinion: The Clergy’s Conferral of Power and the Concomitant Call for a Journalism of Advocacy in an Age of Reform.” The Open Division of the AEJMC Southeast Colloquium has accepted “Hiring for Change? The feature-length documentary tells the mostly unknown story of World War II-veteran pilots who risked their lives and their freedom to play a pivotal role in the creation of Israel in 1948. The Law Division of the 2010 Southeast Colloquium for Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) Calvert accepted seven research papers from the College. Clay Calvert contributed three papers. Sandra Chance Chance and graduate Student Christina Locke co-authored one. Locke wrote another and co-authored a third with graduate student Wendy AllenBrunner.
