Your correctness of structure, style, and written expression will be taken into account in
the evaluation of this examination, so pay attention to these aspects of your writing.
Part I – Analytic Skills/Sight Passage (10% of course weight, one class period)

The best review for this section is to complete all questions assigned throughout the
course. The skills you develop are transferable to this situation!
Read the provided passage in its entirety before starting to answer questions.
Most questions are answerable in 1-2 sentences, but responses will need to be focused.
Part II – Literary Argument (20% of course weight, 2 ½ hours)

You will receive complete instructions, including questions, in advance of the exam
period, so your preparation should be specific.
Plan your argument by preparing an outline. You cannot bring the outline in with you,
but you can take the first 10 minutes or so of the exam to reconstruct it.
This answer must take the form of a well-constructed and detailed argument,
approximately 600-800 words in length.
A senior-level argument consists of more than one paragraph, and each paragraph
contains all steps of a proper argumentative paragraph.
