The Monosep™ High-flow walnut shell filtration system by Siemens has been proven to be effective at removing free oil and grease and suspended solids in oil field produced water, refinery wastewater and numerous industrial wastewaters. A recent study was performed to determine the impact of low API crude and elevated temperature (75–90 °C) on the performance of the walnut shell filter media and robustness of the newly redesigned backwash system. In addition, Siemens tested a new proprietary media for this application in a side by side comparison study against black walnut shells. Laboratory testing has shown this new media to be capable of producing water quality similar to that of black walnut shells but with the added benefit of being able to withstand significantly higher oil loading or longer loading durations before requiring a backwash. The results from a 5 week pilot study will be presented and discussed. Powerful 3D visualization with COMOS Walkinside COMOS Walkinside delivers uniquely immersive, photo-realistic and fluid 3D-model navigation experience for Owner-Operators by efficiently converting massive Engineering CAD data into an intuitive, life-like simulated environment, promoting asset productivity and safety. COMOS Walkinside’s Virtual Realitybased data integration and accessibility s upports Intelligent Field strategies, capturing retiring skilled work-force knowledge, improving field-operator training and remote collaboration, presenting fresh opportunities for standardizing operating procedures, more agile decisionmaking and real-time data accessibility. Immerse yourself … Experience COMOS Walkinside! Automation over the plant lifecycle From FEED through to Commissioning and beyond, this short presentation will present Siemens developments to integrate automation and engineering, bringing benefits from reduced engineering time as well as always up to date documentation. You can’t test SIS Process safety experts Charles Fialkowski and Luis Garcia will present a paper that questions on-line testing of highly automated systems and its impact for improving risk reduction performance. Charles & Luis will also discuss the gaps with current testing philosophies along with many misunderstandings regarding diagnostics and redundancy, and the myths that follow. Deep-water flow back services – Lower your costs and improve your efficiency There are several cost factors related to the operation of deepwater operations, topsides design being one of them. When considering water treatment solutions in this design, safety, flow rate, efficiency and footprint/ weight need to be evaluated carefully to find the best, most economical solution. Integrated Operations – Securing your equipment uptime & performance Siemens provides complete electrical, auto mation and telecom systems for the offshore production market. This presentation will discuss how enhanced characteristics in the automation system can allow for integrated operation. More importantly, the presentation will also discuss how integrated operation from Siemens is used to secure uptime and system performance for offshore production systems. Offshore drilling: DP3 – Closed ring for offshore vessels Innovative solution packages for offshore drilling that secure reliable operation and high availability are in great demand. These solutions are exactly what Siemens has to offer – based on our extensive expertise in electrical, instrumentation, and telecommunication (EIT), rotating equipment, and water treatment solutions as well as years of hands-on experience in the oil and gas business and marine applications. Power management is of central importance for dynamic positioning. Failures in the power system, components or external faults should be identified when occurring and be isolated from the rest of the system. In a DP3 system operating mode in closed ring configuration this will happen. And in case of malfunction of the primary safe guarding devices, a back-up system will be put in operation. Siemens has worked with drilling majors and the classification society to develop solutions operating in DP3 mode with one fully integrated power system. Siemens Subsea – Improved recovery and reduced costs through technology Subsea production and boosting systems supports the oil and gas industry in improving recovery factors and minimizing operating costs. Many of these technologies are still in their infancy, and the innovation required for operations in ever-deeper waters places special demands on solution suppliers. Siemens is in the forefront in the areas of power supply, water treatment, rotating equipment, and automation, and this foundation has been enabling us to actively develop subsea technologies for decades. Our presentation is an overview of our portfolio, which consists of five four focus fields: power, distribution, control, processing, and surveillance. Our subsea power grid – integrating HV/MV power supply, MV switchgear, step-down transformers, and variable speed drives – will facilitate largescale subsea processing for operators around the world. Enterprise Asset Performance Management The objective of efficient Enterprise Asset Performance Management (EAPM) is to help ensure improved operations, maintenance, reliability and business processes along with compliance and safety practices. EAPM is a tool for decision makers and subject matter experts that provides for one stop shopping for asset lifecycle information, standard calculated operational/safety/risk control performance indicators, analytic capabilities to uncover root cause of issues, enforcement of work process best practices, and provide a contextualized integration point to provide data to other applications. EAPM will be deployed through customer configurable standard products and libraries using Siemens technology and a vendor agnostic data acquisition framework, with extensions supporting additional key focus areas such as predictive fault detection, performance analytics, and mobile reporting and access. EAPM will provide a cost effective platform through which customers can achieve their goals of excellence in production and safety performance, environmental protection, and asset availability and extended life. Electrical variable speed rack and pinion jacking system We will show the advantages that the system offers to both owners and operators. How have we been able to address the need for higher safety, controlled operation and extended lifetime. This jacking system will give the operator better handling and smoother operation which will also contribute to shorter relocation times. With various platforms in operation for a number of years and in harsh conditions, we will explain why customer feedback has been very positive. Designing oil and gas equipment for reliability and performance with Femap with NX Nastran Reliability of field equipment can mean success or failure of oil and gas projects. Join this presentation to learn about proven solutions for offshore applications that enable you to evaluate and optimize the performance and reliability of oil and gas equipment designs. Technical capabilities for offshore projects include comprehensive nonlinear analysis, robust 3D surface contact, support for special materials like concrete, composites, elastomers and hyper elastic and a comprehensive suite of modal analysis tools. Benefits include: shorter project development cycles, reduced development costs, fewer prototypes, managed and reduced risk, improved quality with checks for design flaws and problem areas. COMOS and OpenPlant The Siemens Industry Automation Division and Bentley Systems are stepping up their strategic collaboration, focusing on the process industry sector. Both companies are targeting increased interoperability between the Comos engineering software solution from Siemens and Bentley’s OpenPlant 2D/3D system for plant design and construction. One of the aims envisaged by the collaboration is for both companies to work jointly on a system that will allow the capture, exchange and further utilization of data and information spanning the entire plant lifecycle, from engineering through to plant operations across all disciplines. Along with a cohesive connection between COMOS and OpenPlant, this collaboration also seeks to afford users access to supplementary disciplines supported by the Bentley portfolio such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), construction s imulation, cable and raceway management, conveying technology, steel construction and laser scanning. With the cooperation of Siemens and Bentley the most open 3D design system OpenPlant is connected to the most consequently integrated 2D system COMOS. The result is a best-of-breed combination that has the power to seriously challenge our competition. Through an integration between COMOS and OpenPlant we will optimize CAPEX and OPEX throughout the entire plant lifecycle. Integrated power systems for your FPSO This presentation answers questions about planning and operating an FPSO: What is the best drive for your compressor – gas turbine or motor drive? Can over-specification of an FPSO’s electrical system be avoided so as to reduce CAPEX? Our experts will respond with reference to Siemens’ modular, space-saving topside FPSO solutions for power systems from gas turbine to drives. BlueDrive Compact Drilling Vessel owners are facing new environmental regulations from governments and inter national legislations. Several costal states has more strict emissions regimes. The BlueDrive solution is made for a wide range of vessels. With a wide range of new technology, this solution will enhance safety and reliability, reduce cost and emissions, save space and weight and enhance operation and ease maintenance.
